The Tosa Farmers Market is as much about access to healthy, fresh local food as it is about the community that we serve. We wouldn’t exist without a great network of farmers, producers, businesses, organizations, and, of course, the people who visit us throughout the market season. We are happy to be a strong part of the Wauwatosa and greater Milwaukee communities, and are happy to give back and be a part of different initiatives.
Donations from the Market
At the end of every market each week, our volunteers go around to all the stands to see if the farmers and producers want to donate excess food to the Ronald McDonald House Charites
. Each week the Ronald McDonald House Volunteer drives away from the market with a full car of fresh produce, meat, canned goods, and bouquets of flowers to be used by the families at the House. This donation program is one that we’re really proud to be a part of and are happy to see grow even more in 2015! Here are some words from the Ronald McDonald House after the 2014 season:
When you come to the Tosa Farmers Market, each week you will see a rotating booth near the main entrance by the train tracks. This is our Community Booth. For the Community Booth we invite non-profit organizations and other groups to come and inform the market-goers about their group, or promote a special project or event that they’re putting together. We donate this booth space to these groups so they can do more good with their resources.
We are open to working with other groups and projects. Please contact us if you have an idea! We are all a part of this great community, and together will help make it even better.
